I’ve been on 10 projects with GMP, and all of them have been experiences I will never forget.
First, on every trip I have encountered God. Regardless of what is going on in my personal life, I have had a personal experience that has reminded me that God is with me and is listening. We may not know to the extent that we have affected the lives of those we play for and encounter, but I see how it has affected my own life.
Second, I travel alone but found out very quickly that the group becomes a family and takes care of each other. For that reason, my husband has no problem putting me on an airplane to travel around the world.
Third, I have heard people say that they can’t afford to go. However, I believe that if God wants you to go, He will supply the means. I am not good at asking for money, so I often work part time jobs and do things like having yard sales.
The few times that I have found myself doubting if God would really supply the means and wondering how I’m going to pay for a project, the money would come just in time. Donations would come in without my asking. That can only come from God.
Last, I have never been good at witnessing to people- it’s definitely not my strength. However, I find much joy in playing my instrument for God and believe He can use me in this way. What better way to see the world than to play your instrument for God?
