Baracoa, Cuba
CELEBRATION ORCHESTRA
March 27 - April 5, 2025
Our recent project to Cuba was truly special. Over the course of five concerts in Baracoa, Maisi, Bahia de Mata, Paso de Cuba, and Moa, we had some incredible opportunities to share the Gospel through music to over 3,000 people.
Our Cuba mission partner, Elio Mora (below), is one of our most significant mission partners because of his heart for the Cuban people and his incredible energy and vision for taking care of them in this difficult time in Cuba. Through his ministry, "Hands, Harp, and Voice,” he is able to share the Gospel by providing food, medicine, and music to thousands of Cubans.
Our project started with two days of rehearsals at First Baptist Church of Baracoa, where about 25 talented Cuban musicians joined our team. We continue to be amazed by the musical skill - and the spirit - of the Christian musicians we meet in Cuba.
Our first concert in Baracoa was a great way to start the project. The church was packed, not a single seat empty, and the presence of God was evident through the music and testimonies. Throughout the project, several Cuban vocal soloists helped bring songs like “I Speak Jesus,” “Holy Forever,” “Goodness of God,” and a new one written for our ministry partner Elio Mora - called “Hands, Harp, and Voice” - to life. We were also joined by a 130+ voice choir that sang with incredible energy and passion.
The concert in Maisi was especially memorable. It was an outdoor concert, and the crowd showed up in a way only Cuba can deliver - many arriving on foot, others standing in the backs of dump trucks. More than 1,000 people attended, and the response was overwhelming.
We closed the week with another powerful concert in Moa, again joined by the choir. Every venue was full, and the Gospel was clearly shared at each one. We were grateful to see many people make decisions for Christ.
In addition to the music, we were able to bring much-needed medicine and donate several instruments. Some of our team members even left behind clothes and other personal items to bless our Cuban friends.
In the past, we’ve had great opportunities to teach in the music schools across Cuba. While many of those schools shut down during COVID, we’re encouraged to hear they’re beginning to reopen—and we’re looking forward to being part of that again in the future.
We’re already looking ahead to our return to Cuba this fall with over 200 people from Jubal Ministries. We can’t wait to go back.
