The Ministry

HISTORY

Global Missions Project began in 2002 to develop music mission opportunities for Christian musicians to share the Gospel through world missions. Our desire is to use the universal language of music to take the Gospel to the world to evangelize the lost, encourage the believer and minister to and encourage people. Our goal was simple, to totally coordinate such things as mission objectives, travel logistics, communication and financial organization for both the participants going and for those we go to serve.

During our history we have had the privilege of “building this bridge” for thousands of stateside Christian musicians from over 300 churches, over 10,000 musicians, nine denominations and 35 states, going to more than 30 countries worldwide.  GMP has provided over $50,000 in instruments, equipment, teaching materials and Bibles to people all over the world – thousands of lives have been impacted and hundreds have accepted Christ.

 STATEMENT OF PURPOSE | MISSION

Global Missions Project is an interdenominational missions organization committed in leading Christian musicians globally towards evangelizing the lost, encouraging believers and ministering to people through music.

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • TO FURTHER MINISTRY STRATEGIES of the field missionary through the mobilization of music volunteers
  • TO COORDINATE AND MANAGE THE OVERALL PROJECT including vision, objectives, travel logistics and ground support
  • TO ACT AS A LIAISON BETWEEN FIELD MISSIONARIES, Christian music leaders, and individual Christian musicians and the ensembles they represent.
  • TO PROMOTE AND DEVELOP GLOBAL STRATEGIES in furthering the great commission through the use of music

Direct Ministry Goals

The ministry we offer is the complete coordination of music mission projects both for established groups ready to go as well as creating package projects designed for individual church musician participation. In general, our ministry is coordinated into 3 specific areas:

1. WORK DIRECTLY WITH MISSIONARIES AND MISSION AGENCIES IN DEVELOPING MUSIC MISSION OPPORTUNITIES DESIGNED TO MATCH CURRENT FIELD STRATEGY

To work in establishing relationships with both field missionaries and denominational missions agencies in establishing vision for the use of music in effective mission projects throughout the world. Once a request is made, Global Missions Project then works along-side the field missionary to establish goals and strategies, dates and music ensemble for the project. Once the project is defined, Global Missions Project will seek state-side Christian musicians or ensembles such as church choirs, orchestras, praise bands, etc. to fulfill the request.

 2. SERVE DIRECTLY AS A LIAISON BETWEEN FIELD MISSIONARIES AND CHURCH MUSIC ENSEMBLES TO COORDINATE MISSION VISION, PROJECT OBJECTIVES, AND TRAVEL LOGISTICS AND GROUND SUPPORT FOR A SUCCESSFUL MUSIC MISSION

To work with volunteer music groups ready to go as a coordinating organization for such areas as project objectives, travel logistics and ground support. This allows the local group leader/organizer as well as the field missionary to concentrate fully on the ministerial impact to both those who are going and those they go to minister to.

 3. DEVELOP MISSION PROJECTS FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO DESIRE TO USE THEIR TALENT IN MISSIONS WORK

To work in conjunction with field missionaries and denominational missions agencies to develop and establish music mission projects designed for individual and group church musician involvement.

Questions and Answers

Q. What is the relationship between Global Missions Project and the International Missions Board?

A. We serve as a bridge ministry between Southern Baptist missionaries in the field and musicians who are called to serve. We have fostered a good relationship with the volunteer department of the International Missions Board to further enhance the ministry efforts of our missionaries. In addition, we work together to insure the right volunteer music groups are put into the right place of service. Once the request is defined and assigned a project number, we then work within the guidelines established to insure the highest level of success for all parties.

 Q. How does Global Missions Project help us the local missionary?

A. We work directly with missionaries to insure ministry compatibility. The last thing a missionary needs is to “babysit” another volunteer group from the states who have their own agenda for missions work. We then take on the majority of the planning and implementation of the logistics surrounding each project. Such items as hotel, airlines, transportation and food logistics can be overwhelming to a missionary team who has limited time and resources. We work directly with the missionary team to take on and facilitate these items so the missionary doesn’t have to. A representative from our office will accompany most projects to the field to further support the process so that the missionary can concentrate on the mission objectives and not logistics.

 Q. Will there be any expenditure from my IMB budget involved with these projects?

A. No. We realize that in recent years the financial support for our missions world-wide has been stretched. Our goal is to absorb any and all financial liabilities for each project by a combination of the individual project participant fee in addition to general donations.

Q. What is your process in insuring ministry objectives and compatibility with our team’s strategy?

A. Whether your main strategy is general evangelism or indirect evangelism through relationship building, we can find the right music group that will further your cause. In most cases, a representative from our office will come to your location to spend time with your team to establish goals, strategies and logistical organization. We bring with us video and still cameras to capture the essence of the project so as to communicate more effectively to those who will be coming.

 Q. What kind of music groups do you have that are ready to serve?

A. Currently we have requests for the following types of music ensembles:

• ADULT CHOIR

• YOUTH CHOIR

• ADULT VOCAL ENSEMBLE

• YOUTH VOCAL ENSEMBLE

• FULL ORCHESTRA

• PRAISE BAND/TEAM

• HANDBELL CHOIR

• SENIOR ADULT CHOIR

• CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUPS

• CHRISTIAN ROCK GROUPS

• CHRISTIAN BIG BAND

• SMALL JAZZ ENSEMBLES

• YOUTH BANDS

We find the exact type of music group that best fits the strategic need of your team. In many cases, we can combine a number of the groups listed above to provide multiple ministry events. An example of this would be bringing a full church orchestra and within the membership of the orchestra there may be multiple ensembles that could be effectively used.

Q. Every year our team has planning and strategy meetings and we are always looking for someone to lead us in worship. Can you provide this?

A. Absolutely! We have some of America’s leading worship leaders and ensembles that would be willing to come and serve you in this way.

 THE PROCESS

The process is easy. Contact us through the options below to let us know of your team’s interest in music mission partnership. A representative from our office will then contact you to setup a phone interview. Once compatibility is established, we will work to coordinate a site visit to your location to define the goals, strategies, logistics and project dates with your team.
